Dr. Lucie has been a leader in Sports Medicine in North Florida
for over 30 years. He has treated thousands of athletes ranging from weekend
warriors to professionals. The original Team Physician for The Jacksonville
Jaguars, he helped develop their sports medicine facility and served as the
Head Team Physician for seven years. He has been an Orthopaedic Consultant to The
Jacksonville Suns for over 15 years. Current by, Dr. Lucie is Team Physician for The
Jacksonville University Dolphins, The University of North Florida Ospreys and
The Bolles School.
He specializes in knee arthroscopy, arthroscopic ACL ligament
reconstruction, and complex knee problems. Dr. Lucie was one of the first North Florida
surgeons trained in the Carticel Cartilage Transplant Surgery for cartilage
defects in the knee. Dr. Lucie also has performed hundreds of complicated shoulder
arthroscopies for conditions such as shoulder dislocation, impingement, and
rotator cuff problems.
Dr. Lucie sees a number of non-surgical sports problems,
including running injuries and fitness problems. He is an avid runner himself and
has completed eight marathons including two in both New York and Boston.
He has been Medical Director for a number of Jacksonville’s premier
running events including the Gate River Run.
Dr. Lucie has performed hundreds of joint replacements,
and has been innovative in introducing new technology to the North Florida
area. He performs total hip replacements offering the latest technology
including cross-linked polyethylene, metal on metal (Depuy) and ceramic-on-ceramic (Stryker). He is one of the few area surgeons trained in the new
anterolateral muscle sparing minimally invasive total hip surgeries.
Dr. Lucie
also offers the latest in total knee designs including The Depuy Rotating
Platform Knee and The Zimmer Next Gen High Flex Knee. He was the first surgeon
in the North Florida to be trained in the Zimmer Quad Sparing minimally
invasive approach for total knee reconstruction. He also offers the more conservative Unicompartmental
(partial) Total Knee and the innovative Unispacer (Zimmer).
